Gun owners from across the Commonwealth as well as pro-Second Amendment state lawmakers joined together in the state capitol rotunda on Tuesday for the Rally to Protect Your Right to Keep and Bear Arms. For ten years the annual grassroots event has highlighted Second Amendment rights and served as a platform for citizens to lobby for the passage of legislation to protect the firearms rights of Pennsylvania citizens. Keller’s Legislation to Allow Legal Challenges to Local Gun Laws Advances to House Floor - 3/18/2014
Legislation that would allow a person or organization to legally challenge a local firearms ordinance was approved Tuesday in Harrisburg by the House Judiciary Committee. Under the current Pennsylvania Crimes Code, no county, municipality or township may pass laws regulating the ownership, possession or transportation of firearms and ammunition, but that has not prevented a number of local governments from passing restrictive local gun laws. Prime sponsor of House Bill 2011, Rep. Mark Keller (R-Perry & Franklin) said his legislation would further clarify the law and allow citizens to be reimbursed for the cost of any civil action. Rep. Keller Says Area Seniors Can Still Get Free Assistance with Property Tax Rent Rebate Program Applications - 12/6/2011
Pennsylvania senior citizens can still get free assistance with applications for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate program, despite recent solicitations from companies offering to complete the necessary state forms for a fee. Rep. Mark Keller (R-Perry & Franklin) noted that many area seniors may have been confused by these offers, but there is still plenty of time to complete applications and help is available through his local offices at no charge. Castle Doctrine legislation that would strengthen the right of Pennsylvania citizens to use deadly force if necessary in self defense was approved Tuesday in the state House. Rep.
