This was the twelfth annual second amendment rights rally to be held in Harrisburg and a number of nationally noted speakers shared their perspectives on legislative and judicial efforts to protect and preserve the constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Rep. Mark Keller (R-Perry) was a featured speaker at the annual event and sponsor of legislation to preempt municipal laws regulating the ownership, possession or transportation of firearms and ammunition in Pennsylvania.
Keller’s Bill to Allow Legal Challenges to Local Gun Laws Advances to House Floor - 9/21/2016
New legislation that would allow for challenges to the legality of local firearms ordinances was approved Tuesday in Harrisburg by the House Judiciary Committee with broad bipartisan support. Under the current Pennsylvania Crimes Code, no county, municipality or township may pass laws regulating the ownership, possession or transportation of firearms and ammunition, but that has not prevented a number of local governments from enacting their own gun regulations. Prime sponsor of House Bill 2258, Rep. Mark Keller (R-Perry & Cumberland) said his legislation would further clarify existing state law and help eliminate any confusion for Pennsylvania gun owners.

Gun owners from across the Commonwealth as well as pro-Second Amendment state lawmakers joined together in the state capitol rotunda on Tuesday for the Rally to Protect Your Right to Keep and Bear Arms. For ten years the annual grassroots event has highlighted Second Amendment rights and served as a platform for citizens to lobby for the passage of legislation to protect the firearms rights of Pennsylvania citizens. Comments are available from Rep. Mark Keller (R-Perry), who was among the featured speakers at the event.
