HARRISBURG – Rep. Mark Keller (R-Perry) today announced a $248,636 grant for Spring Township to create a regional park on 69 acres off Shermans Valley Road.
The funding from Commonwealth Financing Authority will be used to create a playground, a 360-foot by 225-foot multipurpose athletics field, parking, walking trails and an access driveway.
“I am thankful Spring Township is taking these steps to create a park on the former Dum farm. This initiative will create recreation opportunities not only for today’s residents of Perry County, but also for generations to come,” Keller said.
The grant funding is part of a Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program used for planning, acquisition, development, rehabilitation and repair of greenways, recreational trails, open space, parks and beautification projects.
The master plan for the Lynn Shaeffer Dum Memorial Park estimates its buildout could take 10 years.
