Keller Reminds Retired Senior Citizens of Reduced Automobile Registration Fee
Rep. Mark Keller (R-Perry/Franklin) reminds retired Pennsylvanians whose annual income from all sources is less than $19,200 that they may register one passenger vehicle or non-commercial truck at a reduced fee. Married couples, who are retired, whose vehicles are titled jointly may register two automobiles at the reduced rate if they meet the income qualifications.
“With many retired seniors on fixed incomes, it makes sense for the Commonwealth to provide them a reduced fee to register their automobiles,” Keller said. “We do not want our retirees to be burdened with high expenses during this time in their life.”
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation currently charges $36 each year for vehicle registration; however, the fee for seniors is reduced to $10 per year.
“Families of retirees are encouraged to assist their loved ones in accessing this benefit,” Keller said. “It’s a simple process that will provide savings to our older generation.”
For additional information about this benefit, contact Keller’s Perry County office at 582-8119, his Franklin County office at 267-2047, or visit his Web site at RepKeller.com.
