Keller Announces $350,000 in State Funding for Sewer Improvement Project in Perry County
HARRISBURG – Rep. Mark Keller (R-Perry/Cumberland) announced that a sewer improvement project in Howe Township will benefit from nearly $350,000 in state funding approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) in Harrisburg today.

The township was awarded the grant through the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program and will use the funds to construct a 6-inch diameter force main for the planned Buffalo Crossing development, a designated growth area. The force main will replace a proposed wastewater treatment plant, since it would not have met Chesapeake Bay nutrient-loading standards. The total project cost is $411,650.

“This project will allow the Buffalo Crossing development to connect with the public sewer system and I am pleased it was approved for funding,” said Keller. “As a rural municipality in a rural county, the township is currently struggling to reach affordable rates for residents. This grant will greatly assist in meeting that goal.”

The Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program offers grants for small water and sewer infrastructure projects and can be used to assist with the construction, improvement, expansion, or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply or sanitary sewer system.
