Keller Reminds Residents to Return License Plate if Liability Insurance is Dropped on a Vehicle
Rep. Mark Keller (R-Perry/Franklin) reminds residents of the 86th District that if liability insurance coverage is canceled on their vehicle, the license plate and registration sticker must be returned to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).
“When an automobile lacks the required liability insurance, under no circumstances is it legal to operate the vehicle in Pennsylvania,” Keller said. “By law, owners must surrender the license plate when insurance coverage is terminated.”
As a service and for the convenience to residents, Keller’s district offices will continue to accept plates and return them to PennDOT on behalf of constituents. Keller’s Perry County office is located at 18 West Main Street, New Bloomfield, and is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. His Franklin County office is located at 1270 Crottlestown Road, Chambersburg and is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; Wednesday and Friday hours are by appointment only.
To obtain additional information about this requirement, please contact Keller’s office at 1-800-959-8119.
