PHEAA to Host Two-Day Job Fair in April
4/19/2010

Rep. Mark Keller announces new customer service and collection jobs

Rep. Mark Keller (R-Perry/Franklin) today announced that the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) will hold a two-day job fair at its headquarters, located at 1200 N. 7th Street in Harrisburg.

PHEAA has approximately 150 immediate full-time and summer position openings in its customer service and collection call centers at its Harrisburg and Mechanicsburg locations. These are entry-level positions paying $11 per hour and include full training.

Interested candidates are welcome to attend on:

  • Wednesday, April 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • Thursday, April 29, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“With unemployment rates in our area reaching 9.5 percent, it’s becoming difficult for many of our citizens to find good-paying jobs,” Keller said.  “PHEAA is one of our area’s largest employers and their upcoming job fair is a much-needed opportunity.”

Available call center positions involve responding to in-bound calls and follow-up regarding student loan accounts and collection positions that work with delinquent customers as a result of customer contact.  Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent; and previous costumer service experience and Spanish language skills are a plus.

Job seekers are required to complete an application for employment prior to the job fair in order to be considered for employment.  The employment application and detailed job descriptions can be accessed at PHEAA.org/jobs

PHEAA is one of the nation’s leading nonprofit student aid organizations.  PHEAA serves millions of students and thousands of schools through its student loan servicing, financial aid processing systems and outreach/early awareness programs – including administering the $403.6 million Pennsylvania State Grant program, which will assist approximately 170,000 students during this school year.  PHEAA funds the administrative costs of the State Grant and other state-funded student aid programs with money from its business earnings, saving taxpayers about $19 million annually.
